If you use gmail or google apps (business gmail) you can configure your Blackberry to sync with your Google contacts or Google Calendar using the Enhanced Gmail™ Plug-In for Blackberry and Google Sync.
Setup your email using the Enhanced Gmail Plug-In for Blackberry. After installed, it will be available (invisibly) on your device under Internet Email Setup).
Follow these instructions or call us if you get stuck… Be sure to choose to sync Contacts and Deleted Items during the Gmail setup on your bberry.
Next, download Google Sync and run the program on your Blackberry. Sign in using your Gmail or Google Apps username and password and then choose to only sync the Calendar by checking the box next to Calendar and leaving the box next to Contacts unchecked (this is very important as we are going to sync contacts with the Plug-In that we already set up).
Now you’ll be ready to roll and you can access your calendar online or sync to other computers using Google Calendar Sync on Windows or CalDAV on Linux or Mac OS X with Sunbird or iCal (respectively).
What happens if I start getting duplicate contacts?
(This can happen if you have multiple computers synchronized, but it’s not too hard to resolve. The entire process takes less than 30 minutes.)
The best way to deal with duplicate contacts on your Blackberry is to disable the contact sync, backup your device databases, and then delete the contact database from your Blackberry and then force a resync with Gmail. If you need help with this, please contact us.
Why can’t I clear my contacts database on my Blackberry from Desktop Manager?
If you cannot delete your contacts database on your Blackberry because it is grayed out, then you have to delete the relevant SYNC service book for your email account first. On your Blackberry, go to Options > Advanced Options > Service Books and delete the [email protected] SYNC book and then Clear the contacts database. If you need help with this, please contact us.
